Can I copyright a name, title, slogan or logo?

I've been wondering for weeks whether or not I can copyright book titles because I'm writing a book right now. I thought I'd share the info with all of you. Copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans, or short phrases.
Sometimes you can get a trademark on a name, title, slogan or phrase but you have to jump through hoops first. Check out the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, 800-786-9199, for further information.

Yeah titles, including song titles, can't be copyrighted. That's why there are so many books and songs with the same names. It really, in the end, is probably for the best. We'd probably run out of things to name our books!

The thing I keep wondering is ....is it okay then to tell everybody the name of the book you're writing? since you can't copyright it anyway and people could use your title anyway...

What are your thoughts on telling people the name of your book before it gets published?
